What can I practice on The Card Counting?
It's a free trainer for the card games where skill gives you an edge — eight games in all. Blackjack is the flagship: card counting (Hi-Lo, KO, Hi-Opt I, Omega II), perfect basic strategy and count-based deviations. Beyond it you can train Spanish 21 (a no-tens deck with its own count and chart), Hearts (track the cards and hunt the Queen of Spades), Poker odds (outs and equity), Spades (books counting and bidding), Euchre (trump and bower tracking), Bridge (suit counting and defensive signals) and Gin Rummy (discard tracking and knock decisions). Is The Card Counting free to use?
Yes. Every drill — across all eight games, from blackjack to Gin Rummy — is completely free and runs in your browser. You can play as a guest with no account, and optionally create a free account to sync your progress across devices.
Which card counting systems can I practice?
You can train four systems: Hi-Lo (the balanced classic), KO (Knock-Out, an unbalanced count), Hi-Opt I, and the level-two Omega II count. Additional systems unlock as you level up.
What is the Hi-Lo card counting system?
Hi-Lo assigns +1 to low cards (2–6), 0 to neutral cards (7–9), and −1 to high cards (10, J, Q, K and Ace). You keep a running count as cards are dealt, then divide by the decks remaining to get the true count, which tells you when the shoe favors the player.
Can I learn blackjack basic strategy here?
Yes. The decision trainer deals real hands and grades every hit, stand, double, split and surrender against rules-accurate basic strategy, explaining the correct play. A full strategy chart that updates with your table rules is always one tap away in the reference.
Do I need to download anything or create an account?
No download and no account required. The trainer works instantly on desktop and mobile browsers. An account is optional and only used to sync your XP, streaks and stats across devices.
Is this a card counting game or a simulator?
Both, deliberately. Underneath, the counting trainer is a practice simulator: it deals a realistic multi-deck shoe at a speed you choose and grades your running and true count at timed checkpoints. On top of that it plays like a game — XP, levels, streaks, daily challenges and a play-money live table where the count drives your bets. The game layer keeps you doing the reps; the simulator layer makes the reps accurate.
Can I use it as a card counting calculator or cheat sheet?
For study, yes. The reference section has charts with every tag value for each counting system, and the trainer shows exactly how the running count converts to the true count as the shoe depletes. At a real table none of that is available — casinos ban devices and printed sheets, and using a device to aid play is a crime in Nevada — which is why the skill worth training is doing the arithmetic silently in your head.
Does it teach card counting deviations and index plays?
Yes. As you level up you unlock count-based deviations (Illustrious 18 and Fab 4 style index plays) in the decision trainer, plus a realistic live table where the count drives both your bet sizing and your play.
